Could you accept
this drawdown?

On January 14, a six-layer basket reached a floating loss of 14.22% of the original test capital. It eventually closed at +2.43%. While the trade was open, a real stop loss was still possible.

!

A stop loss means a realized loss. Several stops in one month can erase earlier gains.

Why we use
a stop loss.

WITHOUT SL

The belief is that gold will come back.

Basket after basket may recover. Gold pulls back, the positions close in profit, and waiting seems to work. But what happens when the next reversal does not arrive before the margin runs out? One basket can take the entire account with it.

WITH SL

We don’t require every basket to recover.

When gold turns back, the grid can still take its profit. But when it keeps moving against us, we stop waiting and accept that basket’s loss. The aim is to keep capital for the next opportunity instead of putting the whole account behind one trade.

Why this matters
for compounding.

Imagine making money for months and rolling the profits into larger baskets. Without SL, the one basket that does not recover in time can still wipe out the original capital and every gain. Compounding does not remove that risk; it raises what is at stake. With SL, a losing basket has a point where it can end, so profits can be reinvested without making every trade depend on an eventual reversal.
